Welcome
to Maplewood Maplewood is a licensed
and accredited long-term care residence in the picturesque
town of Brighton in the heart of apple country. We are
located just 19 kilometres from Trenton Memorial Hospital.
Our dedicated staff provides compassionate, supportive
and professional care and services to 49 residents with
varying interests. Our Behaviour Management Specialist
offers leadership and support to staff and families
concerning the individualized care of residents with
Alzheimer's disease or dementia.
Our commitment to education provides our staff with
the knowledge to ensure each resident receives care
that respects their individuality and preference. It's
part of our Pursuit of Excellence mission.
Our modern, single-level home is designed for residents'
comfort. Bedrooms — private and shared —
are spacious, attractively decorated and feature en-suite
bathrooms. Corridors are wide and accommodating. Visitors
are welcome to join residents for a visit on our patio,
where flowers and herbs are evidence of our horticultural
program, or enjoy our comfortable lounge and spacious
dining room.
Maplewood enjoys strong community support. Based on
our belief that residents continue to be valued citizens,
we encourage them to take part in the life of Brighton
and invite local townspeople to become involved in our
home. Our outings include visits to Presqu'ile Park,
attendance at social events hosted by the Eighth Wing
Squadron in Trenton, and luncheons in town. Volunteers
add much to the good times we have at our summer barbecues,
birthday parties, annual bazaars, holiday dinners and
celebrations. Children, local entertainers and clergy
visit us regularly.
We are committed to continually strive to exceed the
expectations of individuals and communities we are privileged
to serve. Our commitment to every resident and to tho
se significant in their lives is to respect and value
every individual and provide an environment which facilitates
a purposeful and peaceful lifestyle and supports the
quality of life residents are entitled to enjoy.
Our residents are valued members of Maplewood's management
team. Our Residents Council provides the opportunity
for residents and their family members to participate
in planning and evaluating the services in our home
and supports a strong line of communication between
residents and administration.

Letter: Altogether pleasing... My aunt, Violet Warden, has
been a resident of Maplewood since Feb. 16, 1998.
I had intended to place my aunt at Maplewood
temporarily until a single room became available in
a nursing home closer to my home or place of employment.
I have since decided that Maplewood will be my aunt's
permanent home for the following reasons:
The size makes it a very
personable and likeable home
The décor is delightful. There
are paintings and pictures on all walls, window
treatments and flower arrangements
The sitting areas are well furnished
with couches and chairs upholstered with attractive
fabrics
Beautiful, large picture windows
in the dining room overlook the patio, shrubbery
and bird feeder
Freedom of the residents to move
around as they please.
Commitment and involvement of all
staff
Constant contact with me regarding
my aunt
Manner of accommodating or dealing
with personality conflicts.
Maplewood is altogether a
pleasing long term care home.
