Welcome to
Forest Hill Forest Hill is a licensed
long-term care residence that has been built to the
Ministry of Health's new design standards. This
156 bed home with 64 wards (2 residents per room) and
92 private rooms is situated in downtown Kanata and
has an incredible view on all 5 floors. It is adjacent
to parkland and the front of the building overlooks
the Kanata Lakes Golf Course. The back provides a panoramic
forest view. We are located within minutes of a large
hospital and emergency services. Fire and police protection
close by provides an added feeling of security.
The main entrance is decorated with
a beautiful stone fireplace and features the Shakespeare
Pub. Forest Hill also provides residents with access
to an in-home hair salon, a woodworking shop, rehabilitation
centre with a hydrotherapy pool, a chapel and an education
room.
There are several spacious sitting rooms on all floors
for family entertaining. Each home area has 16 residents
with their own dining room offering a nearby living
room. On floors two through five, the living rooms
lead to a secured balcony. All meals are cooked
at the home in the main kitchen with home-style domestic
kitchens in the living area on each floor. On the
ground floor there are two secured living areas with
access to the outdoors. We have a state of the
art monitoring system which will help us to improve
the Quality of Living for our special needs residents.
Our two secured therapeutic gardens, with wandering
paths, will be used for private recreation where our
resident's, their families and friends can all benefit
from the therapeutic efffects that our gardens provide,
such as recreation, exercises, creativity and productivity.
Our gardens will help residents develop a sense of well-being,
provide an opportunity to get outside, socialize, and
share a common interest with new friends.
The programs that we have developed are resident focused
and staff friendly. There is a proactive Admission
Program, Behaviour Management Specialists, Behaviour
Management Committee, and an Advocacy Program, to name
a few. A family member and a resident will make
up a part of our committees. We have partnered
with one of the leading long-term care educational consulting
firms, FCS International for our in-home education programs.
