Welcome to Almonte Country Haven
Almonte Country Haven is a licensed and accredited, long-term care residence located in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of the town of Almonte. Only 30 minutes from Ottawa, specialized health care services are easily accessed. Emergency medical services are just minutes away at the Almonte General Hospital.

Our dedicated staff provides compassionate, supportive and professional care and services to 82 residents with varying interests. Our Behaviour Management Specialist offers leadership and support to staff and families concerning the individualized care of residents with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

Our commitment to education provides our staff with the knowledge to ensure each resident receives care that respects their individuality and preference. It's part of our Pursuit of Excellence mission.

Our modern, single-level home is designed for residents' comfort and provides easy access to all areas. Bedrooms - private and shared - are spacious and attractively decorated and feature en-suite bathrooms. Corridors are wide and accommodating. Residents can socialize and enjoy visits with family and friends in our comfortable fireplace lounge. They can enjoy a breath of fresh air under the gazebo or take a stroll along the tree-lined streets or the specially designed wandering path in our garden. In our spacious backyard, residents can also enjoy watching local sporting activities and lawn bowling.

Almonte Country Haven enjoys strong community support. Based on our belief that residents continue to be valued citizens, we encourage them to take part in the life of Almonte and invite local townspeople to become involved in our home. Our outings include visits to the local sugar bush, excursions to the local highland games and luncheons in local venues. Our volunteers add much to the good times we have at summer barbecues, annual bazaars, holiday dinners and celebrations. Children, local entertainers and clergy visit us regularly.

Our residents are valued members of Almonte Country Haven's management team. Our Residents Council provides the opportunity for residents and their family
members to participate in planning and evaluating the services in our home and supports a strong line of communication between residents and administration

Love that no one can pay for...
When one realizes they can no longer care for those they love and that we must trust that care to someone else, I believe most of us make that choice with great trepidation. We watch the caregivers like hawks …my mother and her friend have been with you for some time now … without question you have more than met our expectations.

Both my mom and her friend are impeccably dressed, well co-ordinated and always clean. Their respective rooms, beds and furnishings could not be better even in our own home. We are always kept well informed of their condition and of their activity.

If I had to categorize the atmosphere at Almonte Country Haven, I would have to say that from the vantage point of the families you seem like "one big happy family." I don't say these things lightly. I have walked in on staff and found them sitting on the edge of the bed, as I would, talking and joking with my mother and enjoying her, even though she can be demanding.

You can't believe what a sense of satisfaction that gives me. I know that even when we are not present, my mother and her friend receive that love…that no one can pay for.
