Pleasant Meadow's bowling challenge

Resident bowling league looking for new competition

Losing a bowling match to Mapleview has added new vigour to the Pleasant Meadow Manor bowling team, who are determined to win next year’s game.

Its fourth year running, the annual bowling competition gives residents an opportunity to get some exercise and socialize with friends from the Norwood retirement home.

The final score, 131 to 124 for Mapleview, didn’t seem to dampen the residents spirits at Pleasant Meadows, says Jackie Arnott life enrichment supervisor, who adds the residents are already planning new strategies.

“The team here is very excited about next year and how they have to practice, practice, practice,” says Arnott. “They can’t let it go another year to Mapleview.”

Paul Laroque, a Pleasant Meadow resident who played in the tournament for the first time this year, says seeing the trophy go to the other team has him eager to turn the tables.

“I’m going to try and think of different things the team can do — and definitely practice,” adds Laroque.

He says the event was a great way to meet new people and would like to do more bowling in the future.

“It would be nice to get more residents from different homes into something like this. You get to meet different people and I enjoyed it very much.”

Arnott says the idea of creating a bowling league is great and says the nearby OMNI homes could offer up some new competition.

She encourages any home interested in setting up a bowling league to contact her at (705) 639-5308.
