OMNI CEO settles into new digs
Looks forward to meeting the family

In his first week on the job as the new CEO of OMNI Health Care, Pat McCarthy says he has been busy meeting people and learning where the office supplies are stored.

All joking aside, McCarthy is excited about his new position and looks forward to meeting the rest of the OMNI family.

“I’m really pleased to be here,” says McCarthy, who started April 1. “More than anything I’m looking forward to meeting everybody and getting to know them better so we can begin working together and understanding each other.”

McCarthy has been involved with long-term care since the late 1980s. A chartered accountant by trade, he has held positions in both finance and operations in the long-term care and retirement home sectors.

Having always admired OMNI as a company, especially with respect to their culture, McCarthy says the opportunity to be a part of that environment was too good to pass up.

While the new CEO has plans to visit individual homes in the near future to meet with staff and residents, McCarthy was at OMNI’s first annual OMNIway forum in February which was attended by 118 managers.

McCarthy says his interaction with members of the OMNI family has helped smooth the transition.

“I like to learn from (staff and residents),” he says. “I see our most important people being the people who are at the homes on the front-line. They certainly know more about our residents’ needs and how to deal with them than I could ever hope to.”

Looking to the future, McCarthy says he plans to help the company continue to expand.

“What we’re looking forward to is some more growth. It will be limited in scope, but there will be some more growth happening and we’ll go forth and take the OMNI values forward.”
