Employees make special
effort so residents look their best
Tuesday, December 12,
2006 -- Natalie Miller
Two Almonte Country Haven employees spent their
free time Sunday morning curling residents’
hair and helping the seniors apply makeup.
Personal support workers Cathy Fassbender
and Joanne Neil did their part so residents looked
their best for a special event at the long-term
care home. Earlier in the week, Almonte staff
members ensured residents had their favourite
clothes ready. For those who don’t have
family, staff purchased an outfit for them to
wear.
About 200 people gathered at the
eastern Ontario long-term care home Sunday for
the annual resident and family Christmas tea.
“What made it very special
is that our staff got together
to dress the residents in special outfits,”
says Darlene Thibault, life enrichment co-ordinator.
“The health care aides took
it a step further, says Darlene. “I’m
very proud of them. I think it’s a wonderful
thing they did for our residents. It shows they
take great pride in their job and have great respect
for the residents.”
Almonte’s Christmas
tea is one of many events that bring families
into the home during the festive season. The annual
tea was complete with food, fun and entertainment,
says Darlene.
