'Point Click Care'
will strengthen charting and care plans: RN

Paperwork will be reduced significantly with
the introduction of Point Click Care, a browser
based application soon to be introduced OMNI-wide.
“It’s a very exciting leap for
all of the homes,” says Linda Pierce,
Village Green’s administrator. Linda,
accompanied by Jackie Maxwell, DOC, and Janice
Branson, an RN, recently attended a two day
seminar and demonstration of the web-based
program.
“It will make the charting process
easier, and eliminate a lot of the paperwork,”
says Janice, who points out that Village Green
is currently largely reliant on a paper filing
system. Currently, time spent on paperwork
often exceeds two hours a shift.. Janice says
that Point Click Care will make quarterly
reviews and classifications a much smoother
process.
The program will be phased in gradually,
Linda says, introduced first to the RNs and
RPNs and then to the management team. All
of the various disciplines in the home –
from NASM to LEC to NCM – will be working
on the program.
“It’s going to provide us with
a stronger communication tool for our care
plans. The ability [it gives] in pulling off
different type of reports is just awesome.”
Candice Chartier and Shawn Riel, OMNI’s
operations officers, have worked on the program
behind-the-scenes, Linda says, providing Village
Green with comprehensive lists and information
to be stored in the program.
“It’s also very user-friendly,
and we have found that, in our opinion, we
are going to be very comfortable sharing and
using this program.”
