Thanks to the Elks
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Elks for their yearly Christmas party for the nursing home residents of this county. Each year, every first Sunday in December and June, this fine organization, with the help of Bill Scott and his many volunteers, put on a dance for our residents at Picton's Kentwood Park.

They provide treats, entertainment and, during the Christmas season, even Santa Claus. Grandpa's Goodtime Gang is kind enough to volunteer their time and talents at each of these dances.

School buses and wheelchair-accessible vans are provided for our transportation uses. With everyone's contribution of volunteer time, talents and effort, our nursing home residents are able to experience an event that truly touches their past and hearts. Conversation about this event takes place for weeks, with our residents, as they look forward to the next one, in six months time. They smile and laugh as they remember past socials, dances, friends and relations. On behalf of all the nursing homes, their residents and families "thank you."

Life enrichment co-ordinator
