look forward to sessions with Sharma

While reading one of Robin Sharma’s books,
a life enrichment co-ordinator found herself nodding
in agreement.
Darlene Thibault exercises daily, strives to
lead a healthy lifestyle and maintains a positive
attitude.
“I live this way in a lot of ways,”
says Darlene of Almonte Country Haven.
“I think it’s really important to
be positive.”
Employees of the long-term care provider’s
eastern homes are preparing for a two-day leadership
training session with the inspirational speaker
Nov. 4 and 5. Managers were required to read Leadership
Wisdom From the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, prior
to attending the sessions in Kanata.
Darlene says she’s looking forward to the
training and is keeping an open mind. She has
heard from colleagues who attended the sessions
in September that it was an emotional experience.
“I’m a pretty open person,”
says Darlene.
Sylvia Roetman, life enrichment co-ordinator
(LEC) at Village Green, expects the sessions to
be “dynamic.”
“I’m looking forward to his sessions,”
says Sylvia.
By reading the book she has learned about the
importance of listening and communicating well
with others, she says. Sylvia adds she has learned
to support and inspire her employees to take ownership
of their ideas.
The LEC also took away the message that work
is about more than a paycheque. “It’s
good to have a paycheque but I always put my job
ahead of a paycheque,” she says.
Sylvia was impressed by the accuracy of a personal
profile she completed as part of the preparation
for the sessions. “This guy has a crystal
ball. I think it’s going to be dynamic.”
