Family donates print in memory of mother

The family members of a resident who lived at Almonte Country Haven for a decade recently donated a limited edition wildlife print in memory of their mother, Frances McGregor, who died in the spring.

Darlene Thibault, life enrichment co-ordinator for the long-term care home, says Frances was so well-known, being a resident there for 10 years.

"The family felt that the staff could share in the memory of their mother," says Darlene.

"Apparently she loved wildlife and would have approved of such a gift."

The artwork, ‘Winterlude Blue Jays’ by Christine Marshall, is valued around $2,100.

"It really is quite beautiful in person," says Darlene.

In the letter accompanying the painting, the family writes they "hope that this image will bring joy and comfort to the present residents and those that follow in the future."

Almonte Country Haven Administrator Rick Gourlie accepts a framed print from Frances and Gus Wersch. The couple donated the artwork to the long-term care home in memory of a family member.
