Renovations
welcome at Village Green

SELBY -- Recent renovations at Village Green are
having a positive impact on staff and residents
at the Selby long-term care, says its director
of care.
A fresh coat of paint on the walls of the hallways,
new flooring that resembles hardwood, and new
ceiling tiles have given residents’ rooms
a lift. Resident living areas were the focus of
the makeover. As well, as part of the $120,000
renovations, air conditioning was installed.
“The renovations have been great,”
says Jackie Maxwell.
“They improved the working conditions (for
staff) and the living conditions for the residents.
The change in the whole environment was unbelievable.”
Prior to the installation of air conditioning,
the home had a few small window air conditioning
units and a portable unit for residents as well
as two small domestic units in the dining room
area.
Residents Bill and Andria Van Koughnet share
a room at Village Green. Bill says he and Andria
are enjoying their new space. Bill moved into
Village Green recently to be with his wife of
73 years.
“I jumped at the chance,” says Bill.
“They’re very accommodating here.”
OMNI CEO Fraser Wilson announced in July the
Selby home would receive the renovations. Frost
Manor in Lindsay is also in the midst of upgrades,
valued at $180,000. The renovation work at Village
Green took about three months to complete.
