Grace’s
Wish
Norwood community starts pulling for Grace’s
Wish

In just a week, Pleasant Meadow Manor has received roughly
200 letters in support of a resident’s wish to meet Oprah.
Grace Patterson is already getting celebrity status in the Norwood community
with interviews by two community newspaper reporters and her name frequently
rolling off the lips of staff at the long-term care home.
It all began when her wish to meet talk-show host Oprah
Winfrey was pulled from the home’s wooden wishing well. Since
then, Pleasant Meadow staff, led by Life Enrichment Supervisor Chris
Charlebois, has
been working to make a wish come true for the 80-year-old resident.
Chris began by sending an email and writing a letter
to the Oprah show, hoping it would warrant a response from those close
to the icon. OMNI
home office recently got on board and designed a form letter
for people to sign in support of Grace’s Wish.
So far, since an initial meeting about the campaign last Thursday,
Pleasant Meadow Administrator Connie Garden reports close to 200 form
letters have
been signed.
“The response has been incredible,” says
Connie.
“One family member brought me 60 signed letters.” Connie
notes staff is getting energized.
“I think we can do this,” says Connie. “I’m
not thinking anything less.”
