Dear Oprah:
I am a friend of Pleasant Meadow Manor, a long-term care home in Norwood, Ontario, Canada. The staff have implemented a program called 'Make-a-Wish'.

Residents are encouraged to submit a wish into the wishing well and a draw is made each month for a wish to be fulfilled. They have been running this program for almost a year and many wishes have been granted.

This program provides the Residents with Hope and encourages the residents to dream – to do something they have never done. It provides a sense of individuality and respect for the Residents. It also provides the Residents with the feeling of belonging. Belonging to a family of people who truly do care.

Grace Patterson’s wish has been drawn. Her wish is to meet you, Oprah. I am signing this card in support of Grace’s Wish. It would demonstrate that dreams can come true if you grant Grace’s wish. Grace is an avid fan of yours and watches your show daily. She believes in you and the good work you do.
