Anniversary dinner
rekindles relationships
at Pleasant Meadow

NORWOOD As the sound of violin music drifted down the halls
of Pleasant Meadow Manor, three couples were rekindling their relationships
with
each other over a candlelight Italian spaghetti dinner Wednesday night.
This was the idea of Leslie Rogers, a nurse’s
aid and restorative care aide at the long-term care home, to give those
couples celebrating
anniversaries an opportunity to have a special dinner, complete with
entertainment.
“The idea came from the Valentine’s sweetheart’s
dinner we had back in February,” says Leslie of her initiative. “It
basically branched out from that.”
The anniversary dinner was held for anyone celebrating an
anniversary over a four-month time span. Two of the couples were residents
at the long-term care home, and one male resident had his wife join
him at Pleasant Meadow.
Residents who were not involved peered from the hallway into the dining
room once in a while, eager to have their own anniversary dinner when
the time arrived, according to Leslie.
“They really enjoyed this time,” notes Leslie. “We
have to look at what makes the residents feel good. And especially
for those residents who are not living together here, it’s a
way to bring them together for a special time.”
