CAMPBELLFORD The administrator of Burnbrae Gardens in Campbellford
says OMNI’s values are tailor-made for linking recruitment and
retention strategies.
In an interview with Mary Anne Greco at this 43-bed home, she says
illustrating each value tangibly in the home is and of itself the exact
thing each home needs to do to retain employees and recruit new ones.
“For instance, making a meaningful contribution is one OMNI
value,” says Mary Anne. “If the day-to-day work ethic is
strong, that’s great. But when we have staff going above and
beyond the call of duty, then that’s amazing,” says Mary
Anne.
She points out some staff are busy preparing for a dining room update
to make the lives of residences better, which benefits the whole home.
Mary Anne also talked about transparency. “Look at multidose.
We’ve encountered errors with multidose and we talk about them.
They’re out in the open. People make mistakes but let’s
be transparent about that. I’m seeing this as very positive that
errors are being discussed with this new program, and really, who wouldn’t
want to work in that sort of environment?” Mary Anne explains.
The administrator says the commitment to education by OMNI as a company
is a great asset for each home to use. This is also attractive for
recruiting new people and finding a meaningful niche for the people
who are here, says Mary Anne.
“We had 17 staff members sign up for the supportive measures
program,” says Mary Anne, “and two more applications for
the extended sessions coming up. That’s pretty positive news
for the home.”
Mary Anne says recruitment and retention is about
living the OMNIway through the values that already exist. “We
can make those connections just by doing our jobs and doing it well.”
