administrator says Fabiano's advice is very practical OMNI's newest administrator says that speaker Len Fabiano is focusing care in a very practical way through his series on supportive therapy. Gary
Sims, administrator at Frost Manor as of this week, points out that
Fabiano's workshop focuses are his own specialty, too. "These are good concepts to bring to the front lines. He is using these concepts as a method of focusing care. It's a very behavioural approach," Sims notes. "If you want to make things practical" within the sphere of supportive therapy "then this is the way to go." Gary says that out of the behaviourist perspective there would be questions allowing people to understand someone's history, emotions and the behaviour itself. "Behaviourists believe in a trigger, response, and then someone's evaluation of that. So his work is important because of that," notes Gary, in terms of bringing something to the floor of homes that everyone can work with. Fabiano, who has long been considered a pioneer in the field of person-centred care, points out that there has to be a company-wide consistency in a caregivers' approach and expectations within supportive therapy. "You need to get to know families, you need to be able to read the nuances of faces, you need to know their personal history. And all of us - all OMNI homes - need to do this," notes Gary. |
